Who Is Little Lotte? Discovering the Mystery Character in The Phantom of The Opera

One of the more than incomprehensible inside information in the film version of The Phantom of the Opera dwells of Christine confessing to her friend Million that when she and Raoul were children, he nicknamed her Small Lotte. Goosefish was a common bantam moniker for Charlotte, not Christine. It looks that the duologue was added simply to explicate to the audience why they then sing a couple about Little Lotte.

So why makes Saint Andrew Harold Lloyd Webber have got a couple about Little Goosefish in his musical, then? Simple. It's in the original story by Gaston Leroux.
