Creating Your Own Virtual World: Neverwinter Nights 2

Virtual fantasy realms are springing up all over the place these days, with games like World of Warcraft, GuildWars, and Everquest. Fans are familiar with the power these games have in transporting us to worlds where far reaching dungeons litter the land, evil wizards scheme, and powerful guilds rule cities. For some, this is the ultimate escape; the ability to fully retreat from the stresses of everyday life by assuming the role of some daring adventurer.

However, There may have been one game you might have overlooked: Neverwinter Nights 2. This is a breakthrough game allowing people to not only play in virtual fantasy playgrounds, but create them. Utilizing the toolset provided with the game, players are given all the essentials to build to their hearts content. An online community dedicated to producing more and more content for the game flourishes. Not only is there a group of dedicate builders who work on "persistent world" projects, but several members of the community have dedicated their time to building single player one shot adventures.

Albeit building a world is no small undertaking, it takes no time at all to learn the basics on how to get your own project off the ground. I would certainly recommend this game to anyone who has ever dreamed of creating their own fantastical masterpiece.
